EasyKiya Tackles the Nirmalya Problem After Puja
The Flowers Are Delivered. Then What? EasyKiya Looks at the Nirmalya Problem
There is a part of daily puja that most delivery businesses do not think about: what happens after the prayer is over?
Fresh flowers may arrive at a home in the morning. By the following day, those flowers have served their purpose and become Nirmalya. Without a convenient collection option, they may simply be discarded.
EasyKiya is trying to build a different experience.
Its fresh puja flower service is designed around recurring household needs, with subscription options for 7, 15 and 30 days. The company’s proposition starts from around ₹20 per day, making daily flowers something a household can plan rather than purchase at the last minute every morning.
But EasyKiya wants the relationship with the customer to continue after delivery.
The company is developing a next-day Nirmalya pickup service for subscribers, with doorstep collection intended to give used puja flowers a more organised route after the ritual.
This matters because these flowers are not ordinary waste from the customer’s point of view. They have been part of a religious practice. The way they are handled afterwards is therefore connected to the overall customer experience.
The same thinking can be seen in EasyKiya’s packaging direction. The company is working towards fresh puja flowers being delivered in cotton bags instead of conventional plastic packaging.
The experience becomes a complete cycle: fresh flowers arrive for the morning puja, and the used flowers can be collected the following day.
The company is also expanding around the wider needs of Indian households. These include puja samagri kits, festival packs, pandit booking, bulk flower requirements and same-day delivery of puja essentials.
Festival planning is another part of the problem.
During Ganesh Chaturthi, Durga Puja, Diwali, Chhath Puja and other high-demand occasions, demand can rise sharply. Customers may face limited availability and higher last-minute prices. EasyKiya’s pre-booking concept is designed to let consumers plan their requirements before the rush and schedule delivery for the festival date.
The same approach can apply to Satyanarayan Puja, Griha Pravesh, Karwa Chauth, Janmashtami, Holi and everyday home puja.
It is a simple business observation: a useful delivery service should understand not only what happens before the order, but also what happens after the product has been used.
Achievement & Startup Journey
Alongside building its product, EasyKiya has gradually found its place in startup and entrepreneurship circles. The company’s journey has moved from local problem-solving to startup pitches, innovation platforms and conversations with mentors and investors.
EasyKiya was shortlisted among the Top 48 startups from thousands of applications in a TV funding reality-show journey and was featured in the Future in Screen Episode 6 journey. It also received an achievement certificate from Ideabaaz Startup at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi.
One of the memorable moments came at K J Somaiya College, Vidya Vihar, Mumbai, where EasyKiya received the First Runner-Up award after presenting its startup idea to the jury. The company’s exposure has also included startup and innovation ecosystems associated with IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Allahabad, IIT Kanpur and MNNIT Prayagraj.
Another meaningful milestone was a podcast conversation with Bashesh Gala, a business mentor, investor and business coach. These interactions have given the EasyKiya team opportunities to explain not just what the company sells, but why the problem matters and how the business can grow.
For EasyKiya, every stage has become part of the learning process — pitch, feedback, correction and another attempt.
