Pandit Karan Sharma: A Journey of Service and Dedication to the People
The October of 2020 marked a turning point in his political career. He was now able to serve as the councilor of Ward No. 134 in the Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation. This was achieved on the Congress party’s ticket, making it even sweeter considering the party had been struggling for the seat for over 25 years. Sharma’s success can be attributed to his perseverance and effort, but he himself ascribes the victory to the blessings of his team, parents, and Lord Bholenath and Lord Ram.
Karan Sharma’s victory at a congress party was most impressive given that the seat had been held by a BJP member for over twenty years. Today, Sharma is the General Secretary of the Jaipur Congress Committee and is widely experienced in handling a host of political matters. At the age of 26, he managed to contest and win a seat that the BJP had consistently held for a quarter of a century. His win allowed him to become a councilor and the city of Jaipur was flooded with praises. His achievement and dedication have made him a household name in the city as well as among many political circles in Rajasthan. It is clear that his sustained efforts have earned him praise from various politicians here.
Sharma’s paternal lineage traces back to the renowned and respected astrologer Pandit Purushottam Ji God. He is widely known for holding the popular Rallies of Bhagwan Shri Ram in Jaipur. These rallies have received considerable attention from the media and all the key leaders of the city. He also played a key role in the development of Ward 134 after he was elected as the councilor. Because of his dedicated efforts, in a year’s time frame, he managed to achieve drastic changes in the infrastructural layout of the area and in turn, earned accolades from the entire region.
Since he was still in college in 2008, his approach to tackling social issues was rather unconventional. One day, while he was out having snacks and tea with his friends, he witnessed something shocking. To his surprise, young children between the ages of eight and ten were scavenging through trash.
Since starting in 2012, Pandit Karan Sharma has always had a penchant for public service. This became evident when he joined the Congress party, and even further, when he joined the Nationalist Congress Party in 2008. His work with the NCP gave him a better understanding of how politics can serve as a tool for social betterment and change. This vision allowed him to serve the people to the best of his ability – focusing on solving issues and providing assistance.
