Moving Forward Together: Saikat Bhattacharyya Envisions a Stronger Future for India’s Moving Industry at MFI’s 10th National Conference
By Saikat Bhattacharyya | President, Movers Federation of India (MFI)
India’s moving and relocation industry is entering an important phase of growth and transformation. As customer expectations evolve, businesses expand and technology reshapes service delivery, the need for a united, skilled and professionally recognised industry has never been greater.
As the Movers Federation of India (MFI) prepares for its 10th National Conference, scheduled from 8–11 January 2027 at Taj Yeshwantpur, Bengaluru, I see this milestone as an opportunity to celebrate our collective journey and establish a stronger foundation for the next decade.
I warmly welcome MFI members, industry colleagues, international partners and distinguished guests to this landmark gathering.
A Decade of Unity and Collective Progress
The journey of MFI reflects a shared belief that the moving industry can achieve much more when professionals work together. An industry’s strength is not measured only by the number of businesses operating within it, but also by the standards they follow, the relationships they build and the trust they earn from customers.
MFI continues to provide a common platform for moving companies and relocation professionals to connect, exchange knowledge and discuss challenges affecting the sector.
Our responsibility is to encourage ethical business practices, professional service delivery, customer awareness and meaningful collaboration across the industry.
Professionalism and Customer Trust
Relocation involves more than transporting household goods or commercial assets. It involves people’s memories, investments, expectations and important life transitions.
Customers expect transparency, safe handling, timely communication and dependable services. Therefore, businesses must focus on responsible pricing, proper documentation, trained employees and consistent service standards.
Unfair competition and practices that compromise customer experience can affect the reputation of the entire industry. We must work together to create an environment where professionalism and integrity become the foundation of sustainable business growth.
MAFL – Movers Academy for Learning: Investing in People and Knowledge
One of the important initiatives in MFI’s future development journey is MAFL – Movers Academy for Learning, conceptualised by MFI Founder Mr. Ajit Sharma.
I see MAFL as a significant step towards bringing structured education, professional training and skill development to India’s moving and relocation industry.
For years, much of our industry’s knowledge has developed through practical experience and on-the-job learning. While experience remains invaluable, the changing business environment requires more structured professional education.
MAFL aims to address this need through learning opportunities in areas such as packing, handling, inventory management, transportation, customer service, international relocation and operational management.
Its broader vision includes developing skilled employees, improving safety awareness, encouraging ethical business conduct, creating opportunities for young professionals and exploring professional certification and recognition.
I sincerely appreciate Mr. Ajit Sharma’s foresight in recognising that the industry’s long-term growth requires investment not only in businesses and infrastructure but also in people and knowledge.
I firmly believe that the professionals we educate and empower today will become the leaders who shape our industry’s tomorrow.

Technology and the Future of Relocation
Customer expectations are changing rapidly. Digital communication, online enquiries, tracking solutions, organised documentation and technology-enabled coordination are becoming increasingly important.
Moving companies must embrace practical innovation while continuing to invest in employee development. Technology should improve efficiency, but experienced professionals and trained teams will always remain central to successful relocation services.
Our objective should be to create businesses that combine modern systems with human expertise and responsible service delivery.
MFI’s 10th National Conference: A Platform for New Opportunities
The 10th National Conference is an opportunity to bring together the Indian moving and relocation community, strengthen professional relationships and discuss the direction of the industry’s next decade.
Important areas of discussion should include business networking, international collaboration, customer service, technology adoption, professional training through MAFL and opportunities for the next generation.
I encourage every participant to contribute actively, share practical experiences and take valuable insights back to their organisations.
Building the Next Decade Together
I extend my sincere gratitude to all MFI members, past and present leadership, industry partners and the organising team for their continued dedication.
As we celebrate this important milestone, our ambition should extend beyond individual business achievements. We must work towards an organised, skilled, technologically progressive and globally respected Indian moving industry.

ONE INDUSTRY. ONE NETWORK. UNLIMITED POSSIBILITIES.
