Harsha K. Acharya: Deep-Tech Entrepreneur and AI Innovator Building the Future of Edge Intelligence from Mysuru
Harsha K. Acharya, Founder and CTO of Skythynk Industrial Labs, is advancing artificial intelligence, edge computing, decentralized systems, and deep-tech entrepreneurship from Mysuru through Project SANKALPA and The Sovereign Edge — proving world-class AI innovation doesn’t have to come from Silicon Valley.

Mysuru, Karnataka — Not every entrepreneurial story is built on a single flash of insight. Some are built slowly, through years of research, trial and error, and quiet persistence. Harsha K. Acharya’s story belongs to the second kind.
Over more than two decades in technology, entrepreneurship, and artificial intelligence, Acharya has built a career around turning emerging tech into working products. He is the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Skythynk Industrial Labs in Mysuru, a venture spanning AI, healthcare technology, multilingual AI, aerial intelligence, agritech, climate tech, robotics, and decentralized computing.
The Sovereign Edge: Rethinking What AI Does
One of Acharya’s most notable projects in edge intelligence and decentralized computing is The Sovereign Edge, a system of more than 40 autonomous micro-applications built around what he calls an “AI-as-Operators” model.
Instead of treating AI purely as a chatbot or conversational tool, the architecture reimagines it as a set of autonomous operators — small, specialized programs that run directly on distributed and edge-computing systems. The goal: keep data private, cut latency, and let intelligence live closer to where decisions actually happen, rather than routing everything through centralized servers.
The project earned an Edge Intelligence Innovation Award and a 2026 Global Recognition Award for Innovation. Acharya says the assessment placed his work in the top 5.8% of roughly 15,000 international entries, based on the Rasch measurement framework.
Project SANKALPA: 50 AI Products, One City
Acharya’s other flagship effort, Project SANKALPA, carries the tagline “50 AI Products. One Vision. Built in Mysuru.”
Nearly two years in the making, SANKALPA is a growing AI product portfolio shaped through hands-on experimentation, prototyping, and repeated testing. The bigger point isn’t just the products themselves — it’s the message behind them: that serious AI innovation and deep-tech development doesn’t require a coastal tech hub. It can be engineered from Mysuru, or from any of India’s emerging startup ecosystems.
From Code to the Sky
Acharya’s interests extend beyond software. He holds commercial drone pilot certifications recognized by both the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) — credentials that back up his work in aerial intelligence, agritech, environmental monitoring, and field robotics.
Across all of this, the throughline is the same: using intelligent systems to solve real operational problems, whether that’s automating a decision, monitoring a field, or processing data at the edge.
A Year of Recognition
2026 has brought Acharya recognition on multiple fronts. He received a Certificate of Excellence for “EdTech Innovation of the Year” at the Global Education Brilliance Awards, along with a nod at the Indian Education Summit for AI-powered EdTech innovation. The Sovereign Edge added further recognition for edge intelligence, and Acharya cites additional honors including an international honour roll listing and a World Book Record tied to his innovation work.
Mentoring the Next Generation of Founders
Acharya doesn’t just build — he also mentors. He works with early-stage founders through IIT Madras, StartupTN, the Kerala Startup Mission, and the iTNT Foundation (in association with Anna University), advising on AI strategy, product development, business models, go-to-market planning, and investor readiness.
A Bet on Regional Innovation
Between Skythynk Industrial Labs, The Sovereign Edge, Project SANKALPA, and his mentorship work, Acharya is making a case that deep-tech innovation doesn’t have to cluster in the usual places. Given the right mix of research, engineering, and follow-through, regional ecosystems can compete on the global stage.
His larger goal isn’t any single app or award — it’s proving that meaningful AI research and product development can start in Mysuru, Karnataka, and travel from there to the rest of the world.
